Vara’s always had a fascination with photography. As a child she took her first camera with her everywhere to document all things of interest, she also hoarded photos from Vanity Fair and Vogue.

In 2000, she attended Savannah College of Art and Design on a portfolio scholarship, where she took her first photography classes. She received a great deal of recognition for her very first series, a collection of black and white nudes shot on 35 mm that were printed and processed by hand.

In 2002 Vara transferred to the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, where she was able to more extensively develop her skills in photography and graphic design. She later graduated with a BFA.

Vara has shot many talented models and entertainers in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Houston. She has also worked as a retouch artist. Vara currently resides in Houston, TX.
